Research: Plants Cure Cancer, Not Chemicals

Better dying through chemistry.

AGR Daily 60 Second News Bites

In other words, cancer is now being understood as epigenetic dysfunction, a direct and even adaptive response to the post-industrial, carcinogen-saturated environment, in addition to a diet of faux, mostly chemically-produced ‘food,’ combining to produce an environment – ‘inner terrain–  within the body ideal for cancer promotion.

Indeed, in a new study published in the journal Food and Chemical Toxicology titled, “The use of plant-derived bioactive compounds to target cancer stem cells and modulate tumor microenvironment,” the authors note the powerful implications of this new epigenetic view of cancer:

“A fundamental aspect to be taken into account is that epigenetic changes can possibly be reversed by modifying epigenetic factors, such as diet and lifestyle. Nowadays, identification of these factors is crucial to develop epigenetically-based preventions and more effective anti-cancer intervention strategies.”

Moreover, they note that natural interventions are once again (after countless millennia of worldwide use), at the cutting edge…

Reusable Rocket Success: Watch it Land

Success of private undertaking speaking for itself through action.

True Strange Library

This is amazing. Some seeing this video have claimed it is just a rocket launch played in reverse. It is not. This is a real rocket, the Falcon 9’s first stage, doing a controlled landing back on earth.

Less than 10 minutes after liftoff today, the Falcon 9 first stage came back for another pinpoint touchdown — the second of its operational life — at Landing Zone 1, a SpaceX facility at Cape Canaveral. SpaceX has now pulled off 20 first-stage landings during orbital flights and re-flown landed boosters on four separate occasions.

Such activities are part of SpaceX’s effort to develop fully and rapidly reusable spaceflight systems, a key priority of the company and its billionaire founder and CEO, Elon Musk. …

As the Falcon 9’s first stage was landing today, the rocket’s (expendable) second stage kept powering the Dragon to orbit. If everything goes according to plan…

Mary’s Song of Praise: The Magnificat

And blessed are you, Mary, for carrying God’s only Son into the world, caring for him who died for my sins and bringing you grief unspeakable upon his death, followed by eternal joy for you when you rejoined with him.

Dover Beach

And Mary said,
“My soul magnifies the Lord,
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant.

For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed;
for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name.
And his mercy is for those who fear him from generation to generation.
He has shown strength with his arm;
he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts;
he has brought down the mighty from their thrones
and exalted those of humble estate;
he has filled the hungry with good things,
    and the rich he has sent away empty.

He has helped his servant Israel,
    in remembrance of his mercy,
as he spoke to our fathers,
    to Abraham and to his offspring forever.”

The Disposable People Who Process Our Toxic E-Waste

You think you have a hard life in poverty? Think again.

The Most Revolutionary Act

ToxiCity: A Graveyard for Electronics and People

RT (2017)

Film Review

Toxic e-waste is equally poisonous to the planet and the third world poor who are forced to process it for a living. The only truly humane and sustainable solution to toxic e-waste is to force big tech giants like Apple, Google and Dell (and the billionaires who run them) to assume responsibility for end-of-life disposal, instead of externalizing this cost to the rest of us.

This documentary is about Agbogbloshie in Acra Ghana, the largest toxic waste dump in the world, and the men, women and children who pick through electronic waste from Asia, the US, Australia and western Europe. Although it’s illegal to employ child labor or import e-waste in Ghana, these laws are never enforced.

The filmmakers interview various “waste managers” who run the site, as well as a 10 year old boy, a fifteen year old…

Isaac of Syria: “In love did He bring the world into existence”

Words of truth from a brother of the east for the Christian families of the east and west.

Dover Beach

Isaac of Syria.jpg

“In love did He bring the world into existence; in love does He guide it during this its temporal existence; in love is He going to bring it to that wondrous transformed state, and in love will the world be swallowed up in the great mystery of Him who has performed all these things; in love will the whole course of the governance of creation be finally comprised. And since in the New World the Creator’s love rules over all rational nature, the wonder at His mysteries that will be revealed then will captivate to itself the intellect of all rational beings whom He has created so that they might have delight in Him, whether they be evil or whether they be just.”

Hidden Rainbows~

Beautiful pictures of beautiful wild life in a beautiful country. The tortoises, very good animals in their own right, are no competition for the colorful, well-spoken, and humorous macaws in attractiveness.

It’s hard to hide,

when you are naturally curious,

and colored like a rainbow.

The scarlet macaws seemed bemused by my presence and eventually got used to me.

“Who is this odd person?”

“She doesn’t move or speak.”

“Unusual for a human.”

“Maybe if we just ignore her, she’ll go away.”

Which, of course, after a long time, I did. Smart birds!

Cheers to you from Costa Rica’s flying rainbows~

Tonight we are approaching The Galapogos Islands. There will be no reliable internet until we reach Lima in about a week. Miss you & look forward to catching up with you then!
